DLP TV
The introduction of rear projection big screen televisions using
Texas Instruments' DLP technology was likely
the single biggest contributor to the beginning of the end of
availability for the "old school" CRT rear projection TV.
Today's
1080p DLP HDTVs produce a big beautiful 1920 x 1080 Full
HD picture from a much smaller, lighter form factor
than the significantly larger, heavier, deeper "conventional" CRT
projection televisions of days yonder.
If you are looking for a large (from 50 to
73 inches diagonal) DLP projection television, you are basically talking about one of just two HDTV
manufacturers -- Samsung and Mitsubishi. Using in-wall
1080p rear projection displays, you can get even larger screen
sizes!
You may
also need to leave some room in your big screen TV budget for a
TV floor stand, usually SOLD SEPARATELY, unless you've
already got an appropriate place to support it, and all your
other A/V components. |
